Thomas School of Horsemanship
Melville, NY
Running since 1943 on 33 acres off Round Swamp Road, this is the island's classic riding school, with six barns, nine rings, and lessons that start kids at age 3. No walk-up trail rides here, this is where Long Islanders actually learn to ride.
LOCAL TIP
Book a lesson series, not a one-off; the school year after-school slots fill fast.
