About Strong Island
One place for everything worth doing on Long Island. 501 places, 134 upcoming events, all of Nassau and Suffolk from the Queens line to the Montauk Lighthouse.
How we keep it honest
Every listing is verified against official sources before it goes up, and every entry shows a "last checked" date. A monthly sweep re-checks every website we link to; dead businesses come down instead of wasting your Saturday. When a place has a catch — resident-only parking, a permit system, reservations that sell out in minutes — we say so plainly instead of letting you find out in the parking lot.
The rules we won't break
- No pay-for-placement. Picks and rankings are editorial. Businesses can claim their listing for free, forever.
- Access notes are honest. Dog policies and wheelchair accessibility are checked against official pages, not guessed.
- Food is only listed when it's the destination — wineries, u-pick farms, oyster experiences. We're not a restaurant app.
Who's behind it
Strong Island is built on Long Island by Nelvin Johnson, with an AI-assisted research process and human editorial judgment on every entry. The duck's name is Monty, after Montauk. He does not answer to anything else. Spot something wrong or missing? Tell Monty or email hello@strongisland.ai — corrections ship within the week.
