Camping at Smith Point

A full-hookup campground behind the dunes at the eastern end of Fire Island's barrier beach, taking rigs up to 50 feet, plus the holy grail: 4x4 outer-beach camping where you sleep in a self-contained rig on the open sand. Ocean surf on one side, Moriches Bay sunsets on the other.
LOCAL TIP
The campground is Suffolk residents only with a Green Key and books 180 days out at 7pm online; outer-beach camping requires the county off-road vehicle permit and a fully self-contained vehicle with a generator.
