Old Ponquogue Bridge Fishing Pier
Hampton Bays, NY
The remains of the old 1930s drawbridge, rebuilt as a proper fishing pier jutting into Shinnecock Bay a mile from the inlet, with current-swept water that holds fluke, porgies, blues and fall stripers. Divers work the south span while the fishermen own the north, and everybody pretends the other group is in the way.
LOCAL TIP
Fish the moving tide near dusk; the free north-side lot fills on summer weekends so come early or come in September.
