Cathedral of the Incarnation
Garden City, NY · 🚂 ~0.3 mi from Garden City LIRR
A genuine Gothic Revival cathedral rising over Garden City, built in the 1880s as a memorial to village founder Alexander Turney Stewart, and the seat of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island. The spire, stained glass, and stonework are the kind of architecture Long Islanders assume they have to go to Manhattan to see.
Generally open to visitors 10am-4pm Monday through Saturday from September to May, but summer hours shrink to roughly Tuesday-Thursday 10am-3pm, and it's blocks from the Garden City LIRR stop; email connect@incarnationgc.org for a guided tour.
