Calverton Ponds Preserve

Manorville, NY

A Nature Conservancy gem where short trails link three coastal plain ponds ringed with carnivorous bladderworts and some of the rarest plants in New York. Barely a mile of walking, but it feels like a different planet from the Tanger outlets ten minutes away. Quietly one of the most ecologically important spots on the island.

LOCAL TIP

Entrance is on the north side of Old River Road just east of Wading River Manor Road; the small pull-off fills on nice weekends, go early. Stay on trail, the pond edges are fragile.
